Appellation in the department Alpes-Maritimes in the very east of the French wine region Provence near the border to Italy. The vineyards cover around 60 hectares of vines at an altitude of 200 to 400 metres above sea level above Nice. The white wine is blended from the main varieties Rolle(Vermentino), Roussanne and Mayorquin or Spagnol(Damaschino), and a maximum of 40% Clairette, Bourboulenc, Chardonnay, Pignerol and Muscat Blanc. Red wine and rosé are made from the main varieties Braquet Noir, Fuella(Fuella Nera) and Cinsaut, as well as a maximum of 40% Grenache Noir(Garnacha Tinta) and varieties approved for white wine. Well known producers are Château de Bellet, Château de Crémat, Domaine Clos Nicea, Domaine Clos St Vincent, Domaine de Collet de Bovis, Domaine St Jean (see picture below), Domaine de la Source, Domaine de Toasc and Domaine de Vinceline.
