Spanish term for the reddish sandy soil in the DO area of Jerez with a low lime content, on which the Moscatel (Muscat d'Alexandrie) grape variety is primarily cultivated. Although this type of soil produces high yields, the quality is lower. The best, very calcareous soils for the best qualities of sherry are known as Albariza.
