Born in Germany (Swabia), Anton von Müller, French Antoine de Muller (1788-1859), worked as a cellar master in the famous champagne house Veuve Clicquot-Ponsardin in Reims (Champagne). It was there, around 1813, that he invented remuage (bottle riddling) in the production of champagne in order to remove the lees. In Alsace(France), there is a crémant (sparkling wine) under "Antoine Muller"; nothing is known about a family connection of the producer to the famous cellar master. Presumably, the name was created as a tribute to him.
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
