Xampàn

Spanish name (also Champán) for a sparkling wine produced according to the Champagne method (a corruption of Champagne), used in some cases until Spain's accession to the EU in 1986. This designation was then prohibited by EU regulations and replaced by "Vino espumoso" or Cava (see there).
