Wine ice cream

In Italy, there has been such a product for a long time, for example, the Gelateria "Gelati di Vini" in the Sicilian city of Ragusa has been offering a low-alcohol wine ice cream in the flavours Brachetto d'Acqui, Moscato d'Asti and Pantelleria (Passito) since the early 1990s. The designations are based on the three DOC wines in question. In the USA, wine ice cream is produced industrially in New York by Mercer's Dairy. The four varieties offered are Ala Port, Peach White Zinfandel, Red Raspberry Chardonnay and Royal White Riesling. The alcohol content is around 5% by volume, which is why you have to be 21 years old to buy it. Also in New York, Glacé de Vino produces non-alcoholic wine ice cream. There are four varieties: Strawberry Cream Chardonnay Ice Cream, Chocolate Amaretto Cream Sherry Wine Ice Cream, Raspberry Merlot Cheesecake Wine Ice Cream and Chocolate Cabernet Sauvignon Wine Ice Cream. Other sweets made from or with wine include wine jelly, wine gum and wine pudding. See also cooking wine, wine soup and wine with food.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
