Wallner Gerhard

The winery is located in the community of Deutsch-Schützen in the DAC area Eisenberg (Austria). The traditional family has been growing wine for four generations. A Heuriger is attached. The business is run by Gerhard Wallner, who is supported in the vineyard by his parents Anna and Josef. The vineyards comprise eight hectares of vines mainly in the Deutsch-Schützener locations Bründlgfangen and Weinberg, as well as in the cadastral parish of Eisenberg. They are 90% planted with the red wine varieties Blaufränkisch (70%), Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the rest with the white wine varieties Welschriesling and Pinot Blanc. The aim is that the red wines reflect the typicality of the area. They are traditionally matured in large oak barrels, particularly mature material partly also in barriques. The flagship is the long-lasting red wine cuvée "Kentaur", which is blended from the varieties Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and sometimes some Zweigelt and matured in barriques. Other premium wines are various Blaufränkisch.
