VSOP

Abbreviation for "Very Special Old Pale" or also "Very Superior Old Pale" (very excellent, old, light) for the maturing time or quality for a brandy. The name is said to have originated from the special production method for the so-called Early Landed Cognac, which has a lighter (pale) colour. However, VSOP is also translated as "Very Special Old Product" for a cognac with a darker colour.
