The white grape variety originates from Italy. Synonyms are Greco Bianco, Greco Bianco di Cirò, Greco del Cirotano, Guardavalle di Passuli, Guaradavalle di San Marco, Montonico di Rogliano, Passulara, Uva da Passito, Uva Greca and Vardavalli. It is named after the town in the province of Catanzaro (capital of Calabria).
