The white grape variety originates from Portugal. Synonyms are Cachorrinho, Casarinho and Uva de Cão. It is possibly identical to the variety Sercial (with synonym Uva Cão) or a variety thereof. It is a parent of the new varieties Malvasia Branca de São Jorge and Sercialinho. The variety is grown in tiny quantities in the Centro and Norte regions. In 2016, 0.4 hectares of vineyards were designated under the name Uva Cão (Kym Anderson statistics).
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
