Predatory mites

Predatory arachnids (Gamasida), which as parasites are among the most important and effective beneficial insects in viticulture. The insects, which belong to the mite order, are found on numerous plants. They are characterised by mouthparts with scissor-like graspers and clear scales on the top and underside of the body. The most important representative is the species Typhlodromus pyri, which measures around 0.3 to 0.5 millimetres. It has a pear-shaped body with four pairs of legs and a milky white to brownish...
