Sparkling Hock

Formerly used in England as a synonym for a German sparkling wine, as long as it did not come from the Mosel. The name Hock (see there) refers to the wine village Hochheim at the eastern end of the German wine-growing region Rheingau and was used in England for a long time as a synonym for Rhine wines (wine-growing regions on and around the Rhine).
