The Greek winery was founded in 1986 by Dijon graduate George Skouras in the municipality of Pyrghela near the city of Argos on the island of Peloponnese. He had previously worked as an oenologist for several wineries. Initially, 6,000 bottles of wine were produced there annually. A second winery was then built in 1996 in Gymno in the Nemea appellation. In 2003, the newly built headquarters in Malandreni, southeast of Nemea, were moved into and the Pyrghela site was abandoned. The vineyards there are located at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level. They are planted with the main variety Agiorgitiko, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Moschofilero, Roditis and Viognier. The premium wines are Megas Oenos red (Cabernet Sauvignon, Agiorgitiko), Megas Oenos white (Moschofilero), Cuvée Prestige (Roditis, Moschofilero), Nemea Agiorgitiko, Nemea Grande Cuvée (Agiorgitiko) and Viognier Eclectique. Around 750,000 bottles of wine are produced annually, half of which are exported (240,000 to Germany).
