The winery is located in the municipality of Castel Campagnano in the province of Benevento in the Italian region of Campania. It was founded in the mid-1990s by geologist Antonio Buono. Gennaro Reale serves as cellarmaster. The total estate covers 45 hectares, of which about 20 are overgrown with forest and bushes. A small pond is fed by a spring. The vineyards on the Selvanova hill, which gives the estate its name, were completely newly planted and renovated with regard to the water supply. They comprise 15 hectares of vineyards between 80 and 270 metres above sea level on clay-limestone soils, on which the red wine varieties Aglianico, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pallagrello Nero (Coda di Volpe Nera), as well as the white wine variety Pallagrello Bianco (Coda di Volpe Bianco) are cultivated. Organic viticulture is consistently practised. The vines, trained in the Guyot system and trellis, are planted at a relatively close cane density of 6,500 per hectare, in order to deliberately force the roots into the depths. The average yield is six bunches per vine. The farm's motto is "One plant - one bottle of wine". The wines are aged in steel tanks, large wooden barrels or barriques, depending on the type of wine.
As honorary chairman of the Domäne Wachau, it is the easiest and quickest way for me to access the wein.plus encyclopaedia when I have questions. The certainty of receiving well-founded and up-to-date information here makes it an indispensable guide.
