The winery is located in the municipality of Großriedenthal am Wagram in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Wagram. There is documentary evidence that the family has been growing grapes since at least 1772. A guesthouse is attached. The farm is run by Karl and Helga Schuster, supported by their son Thomas. Karl Schuster is considered a pioneer in environmentally conscious, natural viticulture, which is symbolised on the bottle label by a ladybird. He was also the founding chairman of the brand association "Ursprung Erste Vereinigung naturnahen Weinbau in Österreich". The vineyards cover eight hectares of vineyards in the Altweingarten, Diebstein, Goldberg and Eisenhut vineyards. They are 65% planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Roter Veltliner and Chardonnay, and 35% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt and Blauburgunder. Great importance is attached to selective hand harvesting in several passes. The premium wines include, for example, Roter Veltliner Valvinea, Grüner Veltliner Alte Reben and Blauer Zweigelt Goldberg. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines and noble brandies are also produced. The winery is a member of the Winery Association Wagram.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
