Schellenberg Heinrich

The Swiss viticultural technician Heinrich Schellenberg (1868-1967) was a graduate of the agricultural technical school Strickhof-Zurich, the Klosterneuburg viticultural school (Austria) and the San Michele all'Adige educational establishment (South Tyrol). In 1890 he was the first employee of Dr. Hermann Müller-Thurgau (1850-1927) at the experimental station and school for fruit, wine and horticulture in Wädenswil (Canton Zurich). There he was also involved in the crossing of the Müller-Thurgau grape variety developed by Müller-Thurgau and later named after him. He rendered outstanding services in the performance testing and introduction of this variety into the wine-growing business.
