Rymill

The winery in the Coonawarra area of South Australia is run by Peter Rymill (born 1940) and his wife Judith. Peter Rymill is a direct descendant of the Australian winegrowing pioneer John Riddoch (1827-1901). After Riddoch's death, however, his descendants no longer engaged in viticulture. It was not until 1968 that Rymill began to experiment with it. In 1974, he returned to the family's origins and founded the winery. The vineyards cover 120 hectares, planted with Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Traminer. The premium wines include Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and the cuvée "Rymill MC²" from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Sparkling wines and, in good years, Late Harvest wines are also produced from Traminer.
