Producer description of "Recaredo"

The sparkling wine house is located in the historic centre of the municipality of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia (Barcelona province) in the Spanish region of Catalonia. It was founded in 1924 by Josep Mata Capellades with the construction of a cellar directly under his house. He named the company after his father Recaredo Mata Figueres, who was born into a family of potters in 1878. He pioneered the production of long-aged Brut nature sparkling wines using oak barrels in the production of the base wines. The entire production process is carried out in the areas of Quality Assurance, Health & Safety, Environment and Social Responsibility and is supported, audited and certified by the inspection, classification and certification society Bureau Veritas.
