The winery is located in the municipality of Istia D'Ombrone in the province of Grosseto in the Italian region of Tuscany. In 1987, the couple Rahel Kimmich and Marcello Pirisi bought an abandoned farm with a total of 45 hectares of land between the two municipalities of Istia d'Ombrone and Scansano in the Maremma. In years of hard work, the present winery was built up as a family business. Marcello Pirisi, in collaboration with the oenologist Emiliano Falsini, is responsible for the production of the wines. Andrea Pirisi is responsible as cellar master. The vineyards cover 11 hectares, which are exclusively planted with the red wine varieties Syrah and Sangiovese. The cultivation is carried out in an environmentally friendly way with no herbicides. The product range includes the three red wines DOCG Morellino di Scansano, DOC Maremma Toscana and IGT Toscana. The flagship of the house is Aione from Sangiovese (95%) and Syrah (5%) made from grapes from the best sites, which is aged for 12 months in French barriques. Around 55,000 bottles of wine are produced annually, 20% of which are exported to Germany, Switzerland and Japan. Grappa is also produced. The winery is a member of Consorzio Tutela Morellino di Scansano.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
