Planalto-Mirandês

The former Portuguese IPR area has been a sub-area of the DOC area Trás-os-Montes since the end of 2006; see there.

Trás-os-Montes

DOC area in the extreme northeast of Portugal on the border with Spain. The name Trás-os-Montes means "behind the mountains", as it is enclosed in the west by high mountains that separate it from the rest of Portugal. It is the result of a division of the former Landwein area (Vinho Regional) by combining the three former IPR areas of Chaves (west), Planalto-Mirandês (east) and Valpaços (centre).
