The large island state in Asia consists of around 7,000 islands, but only a fifth of them are inhabited. The two main islands are Luzon with the capital Manila and Mindanao. There is no viticulture, but table grapes are grown. Most of Philippine society still prefers the consumption of beer and hard drinks such as arrack. The wine market is largely driven by the large foreign community and the numerous hotels frequented by business travellers and tourists. There is a growing interest in wine among the better class of society. Demand is met by imports from France, Chile, South Africa, California and Australia.

For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
