The company was a wholly-owned subsidiary of the French wine and spirits manufacturer Pernod Ricard, one of the largest alcoholic beverage manufacturers in the world. It was formed from the Australian and New Zealand companies "Premium Wine Brands" and "Pernod Ricard Pacific". Later, it became the parent organization of Pernod Ricard for its wine activities in other countries. Its large portfolio included wineries such as Jacob’s Creek (Australia), Campo Viejo (Spain), Kenwood Vineyards (USA), and Brancott Estate (New Zealand).
In 1989, the winery Orlando Wines and its brand Jacob's Creek were acquired. A year later, the winery Wyndham Estate in Hunter Valley was bought, and the two merged in the same year to form the Orlando Wyndham Group. Meanwhile, New Zealand's largest wine producer Montana Wines (later renamed Brancott Estate) acquired its competitor Corbans Wines in 2000 and was then taken over by Allied Domecq, which also owned Campo Viejo and Graffigna. In 2005, Allied Domecq was purchased by the French multinational Pernod Ricard.
In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
