The red grape variety comes from Spain. The parentage (parenthood) is unknown. The variety, almost extinct after the phylloxera catastrophe, was rediscovered in 1998 in the DO area of Penedès near Querol and named after the site where it was found, "Coster de Moneu". As part of a reactivation programme for old, autochthonous varieties, it was replanted by the Torres winery. The vine is extremely resistant to drought or drought. It produces acidic, cherry-red red wines with balanced tannins and fruity aromas. In 2016, however, no stocks were identified (Kym Anderson).
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
