Lorenzhöfer

Collective name for two individual vineyards in the municipality of Lorenzhof (Ruwer area) in the German Mosel wine-growing region. Until the land consolidation in 1971, there were actually four individual vineyards here named Felslay, Lorenzberg, Mäuerchen and Treppchen, of which only the two listed below are now listed in the vineyard register. Both face southwest to west. The Felslay site at 150 to 210 metres above sea level with a slope of 45 to 75 covers 3.2 hectares on shallow to medium Devonian slate weathered soil with quartzite inclusions. The Mäuerchen site with 30 to 70% slope covers 3 hectares of vineyards on shallow to deep, stony Devonian slate weathered soil with a very high slate content. The Riesling variety is cultivated in both sites. Both vineyards are solely owned by the Karlsmühle winery. The collective name Lorenzhöfer is mostly used for the wines.
