Italian name (also vino liquoroso) for a liqueur wine with a high alcohol content of up to 18% vol. and more, which has been fortified (enriched with alcohol) and is often sweet. This type of wine is very popular in Italy and is common in almost all wine growing regions. Of many DOC wines there is also a Liquoroso.
