The winery is located in the municipality of Lorch in the German wine-growing region of Rheingau. A wine tavern is attached in the middle of the village. The winery has been run by the brothers Gundolf and Gilbert Laquai since 1990. Since then, the vineyard area has been expanded from three hectares to its current size. This also necessitated an increase in space. Today, the company's buildings in the Wispertal valley near Lorch house the wine press, the vinification and bottling facilities as well as the sparkling wine cellar.

Since 2008, vineyards that had been fallow for over 40 years have been recultivated (12 ha by 2014). They are planted in cross terraces because this promotes biodiversity (species diversity) in flora and fauna, improves water storage and prevents erosion. Today, the vineyards cover 16 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Bodental-Steinberg, Kapellenberg, Krone, Pfaffenwies and Schlossberg (Lorch), as well as Baiken and Langenstück (Rauenthal). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Silvaner and Auxerrois, as well as with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Particular importance is attached to natural, sustainable cultivation.
