Spanish name for a wine distillate (wine spirit) with a low alcohol content. It is used in Spain as a starting product in the production of Brandy de Jerez, which is protected by its origin. The name derives from the fact that until the end of the 19th century, raw brandies were delivered in large quantities from Spain to Holland (Netherlands) and only finished there by appropriate distillation. For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
