Golfo del Tigullio-Portofino

DOC area (also Portofino) for red wines, rosé wines and white wines in the Italian region of Liguria. The zone includes the hills around Genoa with the municipalities of Avegno, Bargagli, Bogliasco, Borzonasca, Camogli, Carasco, Casarza Ligure, Castiglione Chiavarese, Chiavari, Cicagna, Cogorno, Coreglia Ligure; Davagna, Favale di Malvaro, Lavagna, Leivi, Lumarzo, Mezzanego, Moneglia, Ne, Neirone, Orero, Pieve Ligure, Portofino, Rapallo, Recco, San Colombano Certenoli, Santa Margherita Ligure, Sestri Levante, Sori, Tribogna, Uscio and Zoagli, as well as parts of Genova (Precisely), Lorsica and Moconesi in the province of Genoa. Viticulture achieved great importance here under the auspices of the Benedictine Order in the late Middle Ages from the 13th century onwards.
