The winery is located in the heart of the Großriede Sausal in the municipality of Kitzeck-Höch am Demmerkogl in the Austrian wine growing region of Southern Styria. The ancestors came from Bavaria as early as around 1400; Felber means "who lives near the willows" (at that time the silver willow was called "Felber"). The estate was first mentioned in 1571. At that time there were seven farmers "on the Höch" who had to pay levies to the archbishopric of Salzburg for their vineyards. One of them was an ancestor with a quarter of a vineyard. Today Hans-Peter Temmel is the cellar master and his brother Stefan Temmel is responsible for the distillery. The manor house was built at the end of the 18th/beginning of the 19th century. The adjoining Buschenschank was built in 1837 in the Archduke Johann style and is managed by Christine Temmel.
