Dogliani

DOCG area for red wine in the Italian region of Piedmont. The old designation until 2011 was Dolcetto di Dogliani Superiore; this year the two DOC areas Dolcetto di Dogliani and Dolcetto delle Langhe Monregalesi were discontinued and the Dolcetto red wines were transferred to the new Dogliani DOCG area. The zone with about 1.000 hectares of vineyards includes the municipalities of Bastia Mondovì, Belvedere Langhe, Briaglia, Castellino Tanaro, Cigliè, Clavesana, Dogliani, Farigliano, Igliano, Marsaglia, Monchiero, Niella Tanaro, Piozzo and Rocca Cigliè, as well as parts of the municipalities of Carrù, Mondovì, Murazzano, Roddino, San Michele Mondovì, Somano and Vicoforte in the province of Cuneo. If the grapes come from classified vineyards, Vigna followed by the name of the vineyard can be indicated on the label.
