DOC area for red wines and white wines in the Po Valley in the Italian region of Veneto. The wine was already sung about in the 14th century by the poet Francesco Petrarca (1304-1374), who retreated here and cultivated vines. The area covers around 1,300 hectares of vineyards on volcanic and highly calcareous mountain slopes with the 603-metre-high Monte Venda to the southwest of Padua. This includes the municipalities of Arquà Petrarca, Galzignano Terme and Torreglia, as well as parts of the municipalities of Abano Terme, Baone, Battaglia Terme, Cervarese Santa Croce, Cinto Euganeo, Due Carrare, Este, Lozzo Atestino, Monselice, Montegrotto Terme, Rovolon, Selvazzano Dentro, Teolo and Vò in the province of Padova.
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
