DOC area for red wines in the Italian region of Piedmont. The zone covers six hectares of vineyards up to 400 metres above sea level in the municipalities of Antignano, Cantarana, Cisterna d'Asti, Ferrere, San Damiano d'Asti and San Martino Alfieri in the province of Asti, and Canale, Castellinaldo, Govone, Montà, Monteu Roero, Santo Stefano Roero and Vezza d'Alba in the province of Cuneo. The red wine is made from at least 80% Croatina and a maximum of 20% other authorised varieties. It must have an alcohol content of at least 11.5% by volume and be matured for one month. For a Superiore, 12% and 10 months of ageing apply.
