One of the ten cru sites of Beaujolais around the municipality that gave its name, but parts of the municipality of Chénas are in the cru site of Moulin-à-Vent. The vineyards cover 285 hectares on the slopes of the two hills La Cabane des Chasseurs and Pic de Rémont. It is said that the wines from here were already served at the court of King Louis XIII (1601-1643). The strong and spicy red wines from the Gamay variety reach their peak after four to six years. Together with those of Crus Morgon and Moulin-à-Vent, they are considered the best in the area. Well-known producers are Jean Benon, Château de Chénas, Domaine Dominique Piron, Domaine des Ducs, Hubert Lapierre, Henri Lespinasse, Georges Trichard and Jacques Trichard.
