Château Bellefont-Belcier

The winery is located in the commune of St-Laurent-des-Combes in the Saint-Émilion area (Bordeaux). It was founded at the end of the 17th century by Louis-François de Belcier; the Château "Belle Fontaine" (beautiful fountain) was then built in 1803. It remained in the possession of this family until 1871. After several changes of ownership, the estate has been owned by Jacques Berrebi, Alain Laguillaumie and Dominique Hebrard since 1994. The estate is classified as "Grand Cru Classé", which was last confirmed in 2012. The vineyards cover 13 hectares of vines with the varieties Merlot (70%), Cabernet Franc (20%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%). The long-lasting red wine matures up to 20 months in new barriques.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
