The "Brixius-Bölinger" winery is located in the municipality of Maring-Noviand (Bernkastel area) in the German Moselle wine-growing region. A guest house is attached. The current farm was built up by Hans-Hugo and Regina Brixius. After studying viticulture and enology in Geisenheim, an internship at the Riesling winery Hermann J. Wiemer (US state of New York) and working as the responsible production manager at the largest winegrowers' cooperative in Rhineland-Palatinate, Manuel Brixius took over the management in 2014. The vineyards cover seven hectares of vines in the single vineyard Sonnenuhr (Maring-Noviand). They are planted with Riesling as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir and Dornfelder. The quality pyramid consists of the basic line "Brix" (various Rieslings from dry to sweet), "18 Brix" (Riesling Kabinett) and the top line "20 Brix" (Riesling Spätlesen from dry to sweet) and Brix Rosé. Brix refers to the Anglo-American unit of measurement for must weight.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
