The winery is located in the municipality of Lengenfeld in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Kamptal. The family has been growing grapes for over 150 years. Kurt Angerer, a trained cellar master, initially planned to settle in Australia. In the end, however, he remained true to his homeland and began to press wines according to his own ideas in 1996. The vineyards cover 40 hectares. They are 60% planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling and Pinot Blanc, and 40% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, St. Laurent, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Merlot. Kurt Angerer is considered an absolute specialist for Grüner Veltliner, which is vinified in several styles. The grapes are harvested very late and, after fermentation in steel tanks, the wines are sometimes left on the lees until spring. The top wines are named after the predominant soil type or their origin as Ametzberg, Eichenstaude, Kies, Loam (loess), Granit and Spies. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines and noble brandies are also produced. Around 150,000 bottles of wine are produced annually.
