Amiral de Beychevelle

The second wine of Château Beychevelle; see there.

The winery is located in the commune of Saint-Julien in the Médoc region of the same name. The wine was shipped directly from the harbour down by the garden as early as the Middle Ages. Bishop François de Foix-Candale had the first château (castle) built in 1565. Further owners were Duke and Grand Admiral Jean-Louis de Nogaret de la Valette and his son Bernard, who extended the building.
