The winery is located near the municipality of Laserna in the Rioja sub-region of Rioja Alavesa. The roots of the old estate supposedly go back a thousand years. It was founded in 1974 by the Real de Asúa family, which also owns the CVNE (Compañia Vinícola del Norte de España) winery. The vineyards cover 62 hectares on the banks of the Ebro. The wines mature in an old vaulted cellar from the 15th century in over 1,800 barriques. The flagship of the house is the single-vineyard wine "Viña del Olivo", which matures for two years in barriques. Around 30,000 cases of wine are produced annually.
