The Jost family has been growing grapes for almost two centuries. The vineyards cover a total of 12 hectares in two German wine-growing regions. In both, the winery is a member of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates). The current owner in the fifth family generation is Dipl. Ing. Peter Jost, who took over the business from his father Toni in 1975. In his honour, the tradition of naming the winery after the current owner was broken. The main winery is located in the municipality of Bacharach in the Mittelrhein wine-growing region. The vineyards cover eight hectares. The Hahn vineyard, with 4.5 hectares, is almost entirely owned by the estate, from which the name "Hahnenhof" is derived.
