Toasts

In almost every language, there are toasts that are used when drinking alcoholic beverages or raising a glass. The most common wishes are for good health and general well-being. The so-called toast is an age-old custom, ever since humans and alcohol have existed. In quite a few toasts, the consumption of even excessive amounts of alcohol is described as unproblematic and positive. We would therefore like to point this out: Alcohol is an excellent solvent. It dissolves families, marriages, friendships, work relationships, bank accounts, livers and brain cells. It just doesn't solve any problems. However, this is by no means to question the moderate consumption of wine.
