The winery is located in the municipality of La Morra in the province of Cuneo above Barolo in the Italian region of Piedmont. Its origins date back to 1880, when the Diatto-Negri family of Turin's industrialists, in addition to manufacturing cars, also grew grapes and exported their wines as far away as New York. The estate was re-founded in 2001 and consists of eight hectares of woodland with a rich natural animal population including wild boar, foxes, hares and deer, and almost six hectares of vineyards. It is managed by Gabriella Spallino, and Sergio Molino is responsible as oenologist. The vineyards are located between 450 and 530 metres above sea level, which is the highest point of the Barolo area. The red wine varieties Nebbiolo and Pinot Nero, as well as the white wine variety Chardonnay are cultivated. Among the premium wines of the house are the two DOCG red wines Barolo Serradenari (24 months matured in conical pumpkin vats) and La Tartufaia (24 months matured in French barriques), each made from 100% Nebbiolo. Around 40,000 bottles of wine are produced annually, 100% of which are exported to Northern Europe, Japan and the USA. The winery is a member of Consorzio Tutela Barolo e Barbaresco.
