The "Köllan Winery - Georg Schmelzer Family" is located in the municipality of Gols (Heideweg 3) in the Burgenland wine-growing region of Lake Neusiedl ( Austria). The first winegrower in the family was Georg I, who, in addition to viticulture, also practised agriculture and cattle breeding. In 1968, the winery was established on the Kellern vineyard outside the village. Over the years, they specialised more and more in viticulture and cattle breeding was abandoned. After the death of his father Georg II, his son Georg III took over the business with his mother in 1968. In the meantime, with Georg IV, there is already the fourth generation. The vineyards cover ten hectares. They are 60% planted with the red varieties Zweigelt and Cabernet Sauvignon, and 40% with the white varieties Sämling 88, Malvasier (Frühroter Veltliner), Welschriesling, Neuburger and Grüner Veltliner. The premium wines include, for example, the red wine cuvée "Fürstliches Prädium" (Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon), "Cabernet Sauvignon", "Zweigelt Reserve Riedencuvée" and "Grüner Veltliner Reitäcker". Trockenbeerenauslesen and ice wines are also produced. Around 40,000 bottles of wine are produced annually.
