Oetker Group

Dr August Oetker (1862-1918) laid the foundations for today's giant German company, which operates internationally in many business areas and is headquartered in Bielefeld. He took over the Aschoff'sche Apotheke in Bielefeld in 1891 in order to experiment and realise new ideas. This resulted in the well-known baking powder, which he successfully marketed together with other products under the Dr Oetker brand. From very small beginnings, he developed a major food company. Dr Richard Kaselowsky (1888-1944), who married into the Oetker family, expanded the company through activities in Germany and neighbouring countries.

Rudolf-August Oetker (1916-2007), the grandson of the company founder, was also involved in other sectors in addition to the food business. As a result of the diversification strategy and his desire to expand, the Oetker Group was created. The great-grandson of the founder, Dr. h. c. August Oetker (*1944), was the fourth generation of the family to successfully internationalise the business. He retired from the company in 2019. His successors and shareholders in the company are his three children Alfred, Ferdinand and Julia Oetker.
