Niedermayr Josef

The winery is located in Girlan, a part of the municipality of Appiano in the Italian wine-growing region of South Tyrol (Trentino-Alto Adige). The family business was founded in 1852. . Josef Niedermayr and Stefan Rohregger jointly serve as cellar masters. In 2002, the entire cellar, except for the historic wing, was demolished, rebuilt according to the latest requirements and most of the technology was renewed. In the large columned cellar, a wine-growing museum with many exhibits was set up. The company's own vineyards cover 25 hectares of vineyard area, another 10 are leased. In addition, grapes are purchased from contract winegrowers with clear cultivation criteria. The red wine varieties Vernatsch, Lagrein, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are processed to 60%, and the white wine varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc to 40%.
