The winery "Julius Wasem & Söhne" is located in the municipality of Ingelheim ( Bingen area) in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. There is evidence that the Wasem family first practised viticulture as early as 1726. In the 17th century, the farm buildings were the residence of the noble family Ritter Hundt von Saulheim and his wife Katharina, née von Rodenstein. The foundation stone for today's winery was laid in 1912 by Julius Wasem (1894-1972), who established the winery in the old noble residence in Ober-Ingelheim and was the first producer to bottle and market his wines himself. Among other things, he was a board member of the German Winegrowers' Association and co-founder of the German Wine Seal for Rheinhessen. In 1963, he handed over the farm to his sons Gerhard and Jochen. Today it is run in the third generation by their sons Holger and Burkhard Wasem. Attached are a wine tavern and a wine hotel run by their wives Ilona and Karin Wasem.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
