The winery, based in Coquimbito in the department of Maipú in the Argentinian province of Mendoza, was originally founded in Godoy Cruz in 1883 by the famous wine-growing pioneer Tiburcio Benegas (1844-1908) and later moved to Coquimbito. The winery was taken over by the Pulenta family in 1971, who developed the Mulit Peñaflor from it. Trapiche has remained an independent brand and is one of Argentina's leading wineries.
