Garrafeira

This Portuguese designation may only be used for wines whose alcohol content is 0.5% vol. above the minimum specified in each case. In most cases this is the top product of a house. As far as ageing is concerned, the regulations are the same as for the Reserva (red wines three years - one of them in the bottle, white wines one year - six months in the bottle). Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
