Producer description of "Weinbau Friedrich"

The "Schilcherweingut Friedrich" is located in the municipality of Langegg-St. Stefan in the Austrian wine-growing region of Western Styria. The traditional winery has been family-owned since 1856. The business is run by Christian and his wife Isabella Friedrich. The owner attended the viticultural college Silberberg and then trained as a master winemaker and cellarer. The winery offers guided tours where visitors can take a look behind the scenes. These lead through the vineyards, the wine cellar (tank and barrique cellar) and end with a commented wine tasting of various products.

Vineyards & grape varieties

The vineyards cover 9 hectares of vines at an average altitude of 570 metres above sea level in the Langegg, Kirchberg and Pirkhofberg vineyards, which are planted exclusively with the Blauer Wildbacher variety.
