Means "Denominación Especifica" and was formerly the precursor of the controlled designation of origin DO (Denominación de Origen) in Spain. Since Spain's accession to the EU in 1986 this is no longer permitted. Today, the term DOp (p = provisional) is used for the preliminary stage to the DO. See also under Spain.
