Bodegas Dolores Morenas

The winery is located in the municipality of Los Santos de Maimona (Badajoz province) in the DO Ribera del Guadiana in the Spanish region of Extremadura. The family that owns it began producing wine in 1930. Until 1980, they produced large quantities of mainly simple white wine, then they switched to quality with a drastic reduction in production. The vineyards cover more than 50 hectares in the Matanegra sub-area, in the El Salao, El Musinal and La Carrasca vineyards, in soils of slate and calcareous clay. They are planted with the red varieties Garnacha Tinta and Tempranillo, and the white varieties Eva, Chardonnay and Macabeo. All the vines are planted on trellises with an east-west orientation and sprinkled in a controlled manner. The winemaking cellar is equipped with the latest technology. In the middle of the town centre, the second location is the ripening cellar "Vistahermosa" in the style of classical architecture at the beginning of the 20th century. Here the wines mature in about 250 barrels made of American and French oak. These are marketed under the brand names Finca el Musinal (red wine from Garnacha), Karavel (sweet white wine), Melithon (red wines from old vines of Tempranillo and Garnacha), Real Provision (various red wines from Tempranillo) and Zagalon (young, fruity white and red wines).
