The winery is located in the community of Höflein in the Lower Austrian wine region of Carnuntum
. The family has been growing wine here since 1752. Today, the traditional family business is run by the sixth generation of the siblings Hannes and Doris Zwickelstorfer. Doris discovered her love for wine at the "Willamet Valley Vineyards" winery in Oregon and gained further experience through foreign practices in Argentina at the "Diminio del Plata" and South Africa "Kaapzicht" wineries. Hannes practiced in Californian, French and Spanish cellars after finishing the viticulture school. The aim of both of them is to continue the viticulture built up by father Johann in its most original form. In recent years, the vineyards have been converted to natural cultivation with activation of the natural cycle. The aim is to create balanced, healthy vineyards and wines with a distinctive character, independence and storage potential. The vineyards comprise 12 hectares of vines, half of which are planted with red and half with white wine varieties. Around 50% of the red wine areas are planted with 30- to 40-year-old vines, mainly of the Zweigelt and Blauer Portugieser varieties. The other part are young vineyards with the varieties Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. The white wine varieties are Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay. The wines are aged in steel tanks or wooden barrels and produced in the three lines Basis, Premium and Reserve. The flagship of the house is the "Zweigelt Hoherweg", aged in barrique for 36 months.
